Bulb Planting in Containers

Many people don't realize that bulbs are easily grown in containers.  Planting them in the fall at the same time you would plant bulbs in the ground.

A step by step process is as follows:

Step 1 - Select an appropriate container with a diametere of 10-12 inches minumum.

Step 2 - Fill the Pot with enough quality potting soil so that the bulbs that are placed on top will be covered with enough soil to bury them at the proper depth.  (min 1 inch)

Step 3 - Mix some slow release fertilizer in with the top planting soil.  Set the bulbs on the top of the soil, the closer you plant them together the more blooms you will get at bloom time.  Then fill the pot with soil and water thoroughly.

Step 4 - Place the pots in a cool area and cover with mulch.  Check the pots throughout the winter for watering.

Step 5 - Move the pots to a sunny location when you see the first signs of growth.

Step 6 - Enjoy your blooms while watering and fertilizing regularly.
