Composting is becoming more popular with all the concern about the environment and garbage build up. If you are a gardener it is your homemade compost for your garden - Nature's way of recycling.
Things to include in your compost:
- Green - scraps from your kitchen, trimmings from your garden, fruit & vegetable scraps, grass clippings, etc. These items are full of Nitrogen for your garden.
- Brown - Leaves, newsprint, cardboard, straw, corn stalks & cobs. These items are rich in Carbon.
Things you do NOT want to use:
- Fish, Meat, and Bones - they produce bad odor and attract rodents
- BBQ coal & ash - they contain sulphur oxides & other chemicals
- Cooked Foods - this will also attract rodents and other pests
- Kitty Litter - this contains disease causing organisms and contains chemicals
