Veggies

The perfect veggie soil is deep, rich with organic matter, and full of micro-organisms and earthworms.  Organic matter is the key to your plant success improving drainage and moisture retention.  Organic matter contains compost, manure, and peat moss.  Vegetables respond to soil improvements quickly compare to other plants.  Most vegetables love manure and lime, although there are a few root crops that do not, beets, carrots, parsnips, and potatoes.  Veggies need at least 6 hours of sunlight a day, there are other veggies that can tolerate shade.  Make sure to do some crop rotation each year, veggies should not be grown in the same spot for 3 years.  This is because soil nutirents can become unbalanced, and it also prevents build up of bugs and diseases that favor a particular vegetable.
