Living on the west coast simply means you can grow great Rhododendrons.  There are three main requirements for Rhododendrons and if you can provide these, you will have the best looking Rhodo's. 

- a constant moisture supply during the ENTIRE season

- good drainage

- Acidic soil that is loose and well aerated.  Adding bark mulch or peat moss to the area can improve this.

And don't forget to fertilize before and after blooming time.
