Must Have Herbs

Just like other plants, different herbs are best at different times of year.  Woody herbs last you through the winter, and softer herbs through the summer.  Some must have herbs include:

Bay - plant in full sun, draining pot, and protect from the wind. Great for use in soups, stews, and stuffing.

Basil - well drained, soil rich in nutrients, and do not let it get water logged. Great for salads and a great partner for tomatoes.

Chives - sunny location, moist soil.  Great for presentation, or sprinkle over prepared food.

Coriander - deep pot, sow in pot or in plant bed.  Crush and it creates a better flavor

Mint - grow in a container, dividing ever fall.  Try it in your chili recipe.

Oregano - cut back after flowering to encourage new growth. Great for tomatoes, peppers, fish, pizza, pasta.

Parsley - partial shade in a container.  Great partner for garlic, lemon, ham, and mushrooms

Rosemary - evergreen herb, do not keep too wet.  Roasted potatoes covered in rosemary, sea salt, and garlic......yum

Sage - full sun, cut back after flowering.  Great with pasta

Thyme - cut back after flowering.  All vegetables taste great with this add on
