Vancouver Landscape Trees
Trees in the Vancouver landscape give each neighbourhood a distinct flavour. In older residential areas of Vancouver we see huge street trees lining the roadways, creating green tunnels to drive or bicycle through. In areas of more recent development we see new trees planted and residents wait in anticipation for them to grow and help establish their neighbourhood's landscape.
The selection of a tree that will prove to be appropriate for it's location is essential from the early stages of planning. Tree planting is a long term investment and you want to avoid any liability by making a poor selection from the start. The site determines what trees can grow well in that location and the function further refines the selection. If the site is in an area with high pollution or in ground that will recieve lots of foot traffic the list of suitable trees narrows. From this list you then select trees that will meet your needs and decide what you will plant. The possible negative effects of a tree in a certain location should also be checked. If a tree will drop berries on a pathway leading into a residence it may prove to be undesirable as it will track mess into the house. Suddenly the huge selection of trees that are right for your area have been reduced to a manageable list that a selection can be made from.
